Why we built PromtFinance
Most stock websites show you the same things: a price, a chart, a P/E ratio and a handful of analyst targets. They tell youwhat a number is, but rarely whether that number is unusual, whether it is getting better or worse, or how similar situations have turned out before.
We wanted something different. We spend our working lives building trading and research systems for professional investors, and we kept noticing that the questions those professionals ask are not complicated — they are just hard to answer without a lot of clean data. Is this company growing faster or slower than before? Is it expensive compared with its own history? How did the stock react the last few times it reported earnings? How deep have its worst declines been, and how long did they last?
PromtFinance puts the answers to those questions on one page for every stock we cover, written in plain language, and updated every night. The same engine that powers these pages is the kind of technology we build for our clients.
Stock analysis: what you will find on every stock page
We currently cover 3,482 US-listed companies across all eleven sectors — from the largest technology firms to smaller companies that most sites barely mention. A company gets a page only when we have enough reliable data for a meaningful analysis: an active listing, a recent price history without big gaps, and enough financial statements to compare one year with the next. We would rather leave a company out than publish a thin page.
Behind every page
- 40+ years of daily prices, adjusted for splits
- Quarterly and annual financial statements back to the 1980s
- Thousands of delisted companies kept in the history
- Analyst estimates and targets, saved every night from now on
- Short interest from FINRA, twice a month
- Updated nightly after the US market closes
The interactive chart
Each page opens with a full price chart going back decades. You can zoom with the mouse wheel or by pinching on a phone, switch between candles and a simple line, use a logarithmic scale for long histories, and add 20-, 50- and 200-day moving averages. Small markers show when the company reported earnings (green for a beat, red for a miss), paid dividends and split its shares. A one-click download gives you a clean picture of the chart to keep or share.
Six scores, explained rather than hidden
At the heart of every page are six PromtFinance scores from 0 to 100. Each one compares the company with the other companies in its own sector — because a bank and a software company should never be judged by the same yardstick. A score of 80 means the stock ranks higher than roughly 80% of its sector on that dimension.
We never show a score as a black box. Under each one you can see every ingredient and how the company ranks on it, so you can decide for yourself which parts matter to you. A high score is a description, not a recommendation: a stock with an excellent Quality score can still be expensive, and a cheap stock can be cheap for good reasons. Seeing all six side by side is what makes the picture honest.
The rest of the page, section by section
- Three things to know
- Three short sentences that summarize what matters most about the stock right now — written from the numbers, never from opinion.
- What changed
- Growth and margins now versus a year (or a quarter) earlier, with arrows that show the direction at a glance.
- Fundamental momentum
- The key business measures next to their previous values and the company’s rank within its sector.
- Earnings and expectations
- The beat streak, average surprise, what analysts expect, and how the share price reacted 2, 5, 20 and 60 days after each of the last eight reports.
- Valuation in context
- Today’s P/E, EV/EBITDA, free-cash-flow yield and more — compared with the company’s own five-year history and with its sector, plus a simple breakdown of what moved the stock over the past year.
- Technical state
- A plain checklist of the trend (above or below the 20-, 50- and 200-day averages), how long the trend has lasted, and relative strength against the S&P 500.
- Risk and drawdowns
- Current volatility versus the stock’s own history, beta and correlation with the market, and the largest declines of recent years — with how long each one took to recover.
- Financial statements
- Annual and quarterly income statements, cash flow and balance sheet, plus dividends, splits and short interest.
If you are new to investing, the Simple view keeps the page focused on what matters most. If you want every detail, switch to Advanced for the extra rows, explanations and the full earnings history.
How we keep the analysis trustworthy
- Numbers first, words second
- Every sentence on a stock page is generated from data and checked against it. If the data is missing, the sentence simply does not appear — we never fill gaps with guesses.
- Context for every number
- A P/E of 25 means little on its own. We show it against the company’s own history and against its sector, so you can see whether it is high or low for that business.
- Point-in-time history
- When we look back, we use only what was actually known on each date. That avoids the most common trap in financial analysis: judging the past with information nobody had at the time.
- The failures count too
- Our price history includes thousands of companies that were later delisted. Statistics built only on today’s survivors look better than reality; ours do not get that flattering boost.
- Fresh every night
- After the US market closes, our pipeline updates prices, newly reported financial statements, short interest, indicators and scores, then rebuilds every stock page.
What our stock pages are — and what they are not
Our pages describe companies; they do not tell you what to buy or sell. We show facts, comparisons and history so that you can think more clearly about a decision that is ultimately yours. Past behavior — a beat streak, a typical reaction to earnings, a pattern of declines — is useful context, but it never guarantees what happens next. We would rather help you ask better questions than give you false certainty.
Our services: quantitative technology for professional investors
The second half of what we do is less visible but just as important. PromtFinance designs, validates and builds the quantitative technology behind investment decisions for hedge funds, asset managers, family offices, proprietary trading firms, brokerages and fintech companies.
Our clients usually come to us at one of a few moments: they have an investment idea and want to know whether it really works; they have a promising backtest but don’t fully trust it; their research is strong but there is no reliable system to run it live; or they need the infrastructure — portfolio construction, risk, execution — to operate as a real fund.
What makes our approach different
We combine two disciplines that are often kept apart: quantitative research and production engineering. A model is only valuable when it runs reliably with real money, real data problems and real trading costs — so we care as much about clean data, robust testing and failure handling as we do about the idea itself.
Above all, we focus on robustness rather than backtest perfection. A beautiful historical equity curve can hide overfitting, look-ahead bias, unrealistic costs or a strategy that only worked in one market regime. Our job is to find out whether an edge is real and implementable before anyone depends on it — and to say so honestly when it is not.
Because trading logic is valuable intellectual property, we work under NDA on request, in private repositories and, when clients prefer, entirely on infrastructure they control.
How a project works
- We listen. Your objective, markets, holding period, capital, risk limits, data and existing systems.
- We design. The research method and the architecture — data, strategy, portfolio, risk and execution.
- We prototype. A working version you can test, so decisions are based on something real.
- We validate. Robustness, reliability, data correctness, risk controls and failure scenarios.
- We deploy. Into your cloud, your servers or colocation.
- We stay. Monitoring, model updates, new strategies and new markets, as long as you need us.
One engine, two audiences
The stock pages and our professional services are not two separate businesses. The data pipelines, point-in-time databases, scoring models and validation methods that produce our free analysis every night are the same kind of technology we build, at much larger scale, for our clients. The public pages keep us honest: every number we publish is visible to everyone, every day.
